The British Asian Conservative Link (BACL) was formed in 1997 to act as a conduit between the Asian community and the Conservative party in representing its concerns and aspirations. Today the BACL is widely recognised as the largest and most influential Asian Conservative organisation with a diverse membership and national reach.
Key Objectives are:
- To offer the Conservative Party support and advice in their drive to engage with Asian voters, through campaigns and policy projects.
- To support individual prospective parliamentary council candidates, irrespective of their ethnic origin, to win votes from Asian constituents.
- To offer advice and support Asian members who are embarking on the Party’s council or parliamentary selection process.
- To encourage greater participation amongst the Asian community in their local Conservative Party, and Council governance as: local activists, local association officers and school governors.
Job Description
Responsibilities to include:
- Aiding and assisting the General Secretary in all aspects of project management, co-ordination and implementation
- Organising and attending monthly Board meetings – taking, producing and distributing Minutes
- Liaison with other BACL executives and appointed project leaders
- Administration including composing and editing correspondence
- Organising dinners and functions
- Liaison between Secretariat, membership, politicians
Profile
To be successful in the role you would need to:
- Be a proactive and professional communicator
- Demonstrate good face-to-face and telephone communication skills
- Have excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and email)
- Have experience of working within a local constituency or Conservative HQ
- Have good methodical administrative skills
- It would be advantageous if previous experience includes acting as an agent or campaign co-ordinator
- Interested in developing career in a political organisation
Location
The role is based on operating from a number of London locations – Wembley, Berwick Street W1, Conservative HQ Millbank and home. It is possible that a home-based role would be considered, providing that the applicant is able to travel between multiple locations as and when required.
Remuneration - £25,000-£30,000 per annum depending on experience.
